Got questions?  I have answers.

Do I really need software to make my pictures better?

Oh my goodness yes!  Lightroom will take your images from so-so to awesome!  Most professional looking images that you see on Facebook, instagram, etc…, have been edited with software, and most of the time with Lightroom.  This software has become the go-to software to edit your images because of how quickly you can make drastic changes to your images to help them look awesome.  Even photographers who shoot film these days has their film scanned so they can manipulate the images with software.  You can do small changes or large changes very easily.

Why would I use Lightroom over Photoshop?

If you are familiar with Photoshop, you know that you can achieve some of the same results in Photoshop that you can achieve in Lightroom. However, there are several reasons to choose Lightroom over Photoshop.

1) In Lightroom you can get results much quicker and easier. The interface and sliders are intuitive and easy to use. It is laid out so well, that each new version of Photoshop looks more and more like Lightroom.

2) In Lightroom you never touch the original image. You are always working with a preview. The benefit of this is if you ever make a mistake and go too far editing an image, you can always go backwards. With Photoshop, those changes get locked in.

3) In Lightroom you can apply a group of settings over a set of images. Most of the time, we should our images in groups, for example images at a baseball game, or images at the park. In these images most things like lighting, contrast, etc…, stay constant. With Lightroom, once you make changes to one of the image in the group, you can apply those changes to all of the images in the group -saving you from having to edit each image individually, like you would in Photoshop.

There are more reasons, but those are some great ones that should convince you to begin your learning process with Lightroom. In Lightroom, you can remove unwanted objects from your images, fix exposure problems, contrast, and color balance. You can even create slideshows, and web galleries! 99% of your images only need Lightroom to make them shine, and so why use Photoshop which is so much more difficult to use?

How is your class different from others?

The best part of the my class is that I know how to make things easy to learn. I have been teaching photography classes for over 7 years and have the ability to make complex things easy to learn.

My favorite feature of this class is the Fast Track. This allows you to learn just what you need -quickly- to complete the task that you want in Lightroom. As you finish the Fast Track program you will feel empowered to make your images great!

And the training doesn’t stop there. When you’re ready, or have specific questions on how to do something in Lightroom I have additional training modules where you will learn more in-depth about specific tools or tasks you want to accomplish. By having these separate, it allows you to learn at your own pace and not feel overwhelmed by too much information to quickly. Which, let’s be honest, happens a lot when learning software.

And, one of my favorite sections is the Hero Training. This is where I provide an image to edit and a video of how I made it great. You then can try your hand at editing it, and may even prefer your edit to mine. And that’s great! Finding your own style in editing is crucial.

I hate learning software, how am I going to be able to learn Lightroom?

You are not alone. Software can be hard and complicated to learn.  However, software is essential these days to becoming a good photographer, so don’t let software stand in the way of your dreams! In fact, Lightroom is one of the easiest programs to learn and once you begin editing your images within Lightroom, you’ll wonder how you ever got along without it.

One of the best parts of my training is the Fast Track. This allows you to learn the essentials quickly and easily and not get bogged down with too much information. Then, as you are ready to do more with Lightroom, I have modules ready to teach you! So you learn fast, but move at your own pace.

I am so sure you will love this course, that there is a no-questions asked 30-day money back guarantee! You truly have nothing to lose.

I already know how to use Lightroom, how can your class benefit me?

That is a great question! Lightroom is a big program where you can achieve big results fast. Being that it is so large, there is more to learn than just how to edit your images. Below are some great features that this course can bring to the person already using Lightroom:

Hero Training Edit the same image right along side me. You can watch to see exactly how I edit the image, and then you can download the image and edit it yourself. This helps you not only to develop a style with editing that clients will love, but it will allow you to see some of the techniques I use to edit my images fast.

Get organized! Sometimes organization in Lightroom can be daunting. With the course I will give you tips on how to get organized and how to quickly find your images later. I have included great tutorials on how to use tags, flags, color and star ratings as well as the search functions.

-Learn some powerful ways to dramatically increase workflow! Having a streamlined workflow is essential to productivity in Lightroom. I will show you how to cull through thousands of images to get to the best ones quickly and how to edit and export faster than you ever have before. As photographers we do not want to spend all day in front of the computer, and I will teach you methods to maximize the time you do spend in Lightroom.

-Are there modules or sliders you want to know more about? Maybe you want to begin using the print module to put overlays on your images, or learn how to use the Publish Services features. I have extensive training on each module and feature so you can learn specifically about that when you want.

I don't have a lot of images, can I practice on some of yours?

Absolutely.  Included in the class is a Hero Training module where I will walk you step-by-step how take a somewhat alright image of mine, to incredible.  These exercises will allow you to really practice what you have learned and be able to see how the results can come quickly when you use the right tools.

What version of Lightroom do I need to have?

Great question. I would recommend you have the latest version, but that is not required.

I would definitely be above version 2.0 of the software, as major changes happened in version 2.0-3.0. Lightroom is not that expensive of software, it runs anywhere from $99-$150 for it, or you can do the subscription service through Adobe for $9.99 a month including Photoshop as well. This is what I do, and would recommend because you will always have the latest version of the software. And as new versions come out, this training will be updated with the new features.

Does it matter what type of camera I shoot with?

Absolutely not.  Lightroom can edit images from almost any digital camera on the market today.  However, it may require a new version of Lightroom to edit RAW files from a new camera.  But that makes sense, right?

I do better in real-world learning situations, how can I learn software from a video?

I love learning from video based software and there are a couple of reasons why. First, I can move at my own pace. This is great especially if I need to review a topic a few times for it to sink in. It helps me to move at MY pace, rather than trying to keep up with a class.

Second, I can always go back and refresh my memory on something I may have forgotten. The videos are accessible 24 hours a day, so if I need to jog my memory at midnight, I can get on and do it!

Finally, I love that I can visually watch someone do something, and then using the same files, do those things myself. With this course, you will have access to all of the files I am using and will be editing them right along side me. So not only are you watching me edit, you are actually doing it yourself!

Do I need to shoot in RAW to take this course?

You will not need to shoot RAW to take this course, you can edit JPEG’s just as easily in Lightroom as you can a RAW file. However, as you become more proficient in Lightroom, you will want to slowly transition to a RAW or RAW/JPEG workflow. The reason is, RAW files have so much more information in them than JPEG’s do allowing you to bring out more detail and manipulate the image so much easier.

Can I get Questions Answered?

You bet! I have created a Lightroom Hero Facebook private group where you can ask questions privately. Not only will I be able to answer questions, but as you get better with the software, you can help people out as well! It’s a win/win. And, because it’s a private group, when you ask questions, post your images for critique, etc…, none of your friends will see. It’s completely private.
